Preferred rooms are just closest to facilities. We had a garden view booked originally but that could have been anywhere in Alligator Bayou.

I believe 30 days before is the recommendation now. It used to be within two weeks of arrival but they changed something recently. I previously sent a fax and got almost everything I had requested.

I really wouldn't worry to much, it's a small resort and no block is far from anywhere. We stayed in block 1, which is one of the furthest away from the food court and it only took us about 3 minutes to walk there. We had a top floor room as I don't like anyone above me.

You can do it whenever you want. I always do mine when I get my confirmation and like many others I book over a year in advance. Both times I've done it I've got what I requested.

Are you at POR or POFQ? There are no preferred rooms at POFQ. At Riverside they are in a few blocks closest to the food court in the Alligator Bayou section (fifth sleeper bed). They are a specific paid for category you can choose when you book.
