Help!

We have recently had an orangery built leading off our dining room and had the patio doors removed so that it is now open plan Into to the orangery . The work completed a couple of weeks and the guy who is laying the floor running from the living room, through the dining room and into the orangery has advised that the floor is uneven (up to 15mm in places ). Therefore he can’t lay the flooring till this is corrected. I’m going to contact the company tomorrow but am pretty sure that they are going to be awkward about it and try to wriggle out of the responsibility give some of the reviews o after sales we have just found, we paid the deposit of over 4K on a credit card and the rest on finance interest free till next July . Does anyone know where we stand in regard to section 75 rights given we’ve used two separate credit methods?

Before thinking about a refund you need to give the company a chance to fix it.

I fully intend to however am not holding out much hope so want to be prepared. It should all have been done and dusted precovid obviously everything came to a halt. Once back up and running it’s been v slow progress and we are fed now. To be honest I’m tempted to just find someone local to do it and take the hit if the company decide to argue the point or it will take to long.

Are we talking of a problem where a floor screed will resolve it?
15mm is one heck of a difference but not insurmountable.

Have you a photo?

It increases to about 15mm after the transition from the dining room to the orangery, The flooring guy was of the view it needs screeding he also mentioned self levelling compound ? To be honest we are fairly clueless, this has been a long tortuous job and I’ll now happily just pay someone to sort it so we can actually use the room.

Definitely give them a chance to sort out the problem first but the general rule is if you pay any part of the bill by credit card then the whole amount is covered by a section 75 claim
