I’ve just acquired this Free of charge from our local recycling group. It’s a chest of drawers with a free standing mirror on it. I’m planning on painting it a soft grey |

Me! I do!
Upcycled various pieces, always chalk painted them blending colours at will, and then distressed them and then waxed with clear or/and dark wax. Very pleased with my efforts as I just love that style! Kind of American Country/Farmhouse/Shabby Chic (If you've ever been to Hobby Lobby in the USA you'll know what I mean! )

Recently had our spare room fitted and now have good quality pine furniture (dressing table with barley twist mirror and matching cheval, mirror, bedside cabinet and set of drawers), we’ve had for over 20 years and was about to give them away.
However, I’ve just retired so had just said to DH I fancy trying upcycling so its all in the garage for the minute. Wish me luck 😃

I don't mind when people 'upcycle' stuff that's tat or cheap but I get so annoyed when people paint quality oak furniture! I love polished oak and find it difficult to get old furniture now because it's been ruined by paint

I have a solid oak hall table that I want to upcycle to match the rest of my decor. I have been toying with the idea since summer but am so scared to start it in case I make an absolute hash of it. If someone could give a bit of advice I would be very grateful. I would like it to end up dark grey and distressed waxed oak.

i really like houses that have a mixture of old, new and up cycled furniture. I think it makes a home look like a home. Nothing worse for me than everything new like a room in a furniture shop or a show home. My sons flat was almost entirely furnished with charity shop finds and from places like M&S outlet and hand me-down stuff from our neighbours. It looks great.
