IT'S GOING TO BE A BIG ONE! - Aug 2017 - Day 5 - Off to Stay at Disney's Beach Club & Cape May Cafe
Trip Report Index
4 Nights Royal Pacific Resort – 6 Nights Beach Club – 16 nights Bahama Bay Day 5 – Monday 14th August 2017 ‘‘Becoming Disney ‘assholders’’ Just to start, I'm Lisa - the planner and reporter. Ade is my hubby and he's our driver and there's Hollie who is 18 and Louis is 15. Today we leave Universal and head to Disney. This was our first time staying at Universal and I have to say we loved it. We felt so relaxed here. It was so much better than we expected. But we were REALLY excited about moving to Disney. We woke at 6am and I worked til 7.30am. As I work for myself I have to work every day I’m away unfortunately. It was stressing me out a little today. We packed up then, the kids woke at 8am. Had a nice chat with Louis then Ade and I headed down for coffee at 8.30am. We met the kids by the pool and then guess what…. On the last morning they got in and loved it! I think because it was so quiet they relaxed more and enjoyed it. It was the perfect end to our stay here. Coffee by the pool and playing volleyball with the kids. It was so fun watching the 2 of them mess around in the pool too. Have to say the life guards were super vigilant. I’ve never seen anything like it. I was fascinated watching them watch. This made me happy! There was the sweetest family of ducks. Their nest was on a little island in the pool and we had to stop our volleyball game at one point for Mummy and her babies to swim past. So sweet! We played table tennis. Louis was so bad it was funny! We got back to the room just after 10am. We had to check out by 11am. All showered, sorted, final bits packed and out by 11.15am. We packed up everything in the car and wandered back to IOA for the last time. It was a really hot day today. We figured we started with Spiderman, so we’d end with Spiderman. It was a 45min wait, but 10 mins in the eXpressline. We grabbed Starbucks and Cinnabon treat on the way out. Bye Bye IOA. We were sad to leave RPR. We’d miss hearing that constant ROAR from Hulk. We all loved that sound. It took just 20 mins to dive to Beachclub. It was a hot day! And we had our first ADR in 55mins! We are here! We pulled up outside the lobby and someone was there to greet us. Such a different experience from checking in at Universal. Someone with an ipad than greeted us as soon as we walked in and checked us right in. I’d checked us in online, but we needed our new magicbands which she then got for us. So easy and smooth. We were so happy that our room was ready already. We thought we’d head there first, expecting to have a quick nose and head out to grab our luggage, keeping in mind we’d left the car right outside the front of the lobby. We walked and walked and walked and walked. 3 mins later and we reached our room. This was the moment she’d been waiting for. We were really happy with our room. My first room request was for a day bed. I was so happy that we had one so the kids wouldn’t have to share. We’d booked a garden view and were so so happy with where we were. Just by the little quiet pool and it was empty. Now very conscious that 1. we needed to get all the bags and 2. Our car was still out the front, and 3. We had an ADR at Beaches and Cream at 1.50pm. We asked a porter to help with all the bags. No idea what the going rate was, but we gave him $5 I think. We literally threw the bags in and legged it to Beaches and Cream. We’ve visited the resort before and eaten at Beaches and Cream, which is why we’d chosen to stay here, so we knew where we were going. Out the back on Beach Club. We arrived right on time. The buzzer went off almost straight away. We love it here. It’s tiny but with a great atmosphere. The 3 of them all had shakes. Louis also had garlic fries. Ade also had a Club Sandwich which he still talks about and it came with Watermelon. I’m not a fan of ice cream or milkshakes, but chilicheese fries are my absolute fave! Hollie went with the banana split. Which she loved but the banana seemed to be missing. We had the best server. He was so good and really chatty and fun. This was a stand out meal of this trip. I guess the excitement of just arriving helped, but it was so fun here. And I do believe the server makes or breaks a meal as we really find out whilst staying at Disney. The lunch came to $65 which included the tip and we rounded it up so he received just over the 20%. We didn’t use our dining credits for this meal as it wasn’t overly expensive and we decided to use our credits on more worthwhile meals like the character meals. There had been a massive downpour whilst we were eating but it had cleared up by the time we were finished. Beaches and Cream is right next to the pool area here shared by Beach Club and Yacht Club. But now it was lovely and sunny again. Cont... Edited at 08:48 PM. |

We went to the Market Place in Beach Club to see what there was there and pick up our refillable mugs. (Since he was tiny, he’s always picked up a green noodle at the start of every trip….I think he’s too old now but he did try). This was our first time on the dining plan so it was really exciting. We went back to our room, I filmed a room tour which you can see our my YouTube Channel. And then we unpacked. I had separated all our cases. So we had cases just for Universal and cases just for Disney and then cases for Bahama Bay, so this made life very easy. We relaxed a little and then Ade and I left the kids and went off to sort something rather exciting….annual passes! We went to the concierge desk first and bought our bus express passes, sadly this was the last week that they were operating this service. We bought a ticket each for $29 and then headed to Epcot to the International gateway to ask about upgrading our passes as they couldn’t do it for us on the desk. Our room was super close to Epcot. I’ve marked off our room. We had a door that lead us to the small pool. There was a gate to the walkway from the pool which takes you to the dotted line that you see on the map and that brings you out to look at this. Amazing right? And from there follow the dotted line, if you go over the bridge then you are on the Boardwalk if you continue it takes you straight to the international gateway straight in to Epcot here. We could walk from here to our room in less than 3 mins. It was quicker for us to get to Epcot than to walk to the lobby. I was super prepared for the annual passes. I had printouts of how much we had paid for our tickets which was £350 each. And I’d also printed off the exchange rate on the actual date that we bought them. We got them just before the rate dipped and all the prices started to rise. But I had worked out based on what we had paid and what the actual cost of the passes were what the difference would be and what we should need to pay. I’ve read so much posts here on how the price to upgrade varies depending on where and who you speak to and if you aren’t happy with the price you are given to try somewhere else, I can’t remember exactly how much I’d worked the cost out to be, something like $360 odd each I think, so when she went away for a while and came back with $240 each I snapped it up straight away. I knew we were underpaying and wanted those passes in my hand before she said anything. I walked away with the biggest smile on my face! Not only were we now Disney Passholders (or Disney Assholders as we started calling ourselves) but I’d managed to snap the Platinum passes for under $700 each! Super chuffed! It really started thundering now. Really loudly and it had come over really dark. We made it back to our room before it started raining and got ready for our evening meal and first meal ever on the dining plan. I was really excited about wearing this dress for the first time. It was covered in little boats and I’d bought it for the trip. Really splashed the cash ….£6 from Primark! I loved that cardi too and I’d swapped the buttons to coloured hearts but sadly lost it at the end of the trip along the Boardwalk somewhere. (This has just reminded me to go on to New Look and find another one for this years trip) The restaurants get pretty chilly with the aircon. I’ve lost count of the amount of times Ades had to go back to the car to get me a cardi. Our reservation was at Cape May Café, just off the lobby in Beach Club. It’s a Seafood buffet with loads of other stuff. We all love seafood and we figured we really wanted to enjoy the resort whilst staying here and didn’t want to rush around on our first night. We were there right on time, got given a buzzer and waited just 2 mins. We loved this place. Damane was the best server. So camp and so much fun. We all loved him and he made our meal. Offering us the adult juice list, we obliged by ordering Bahama Mamas. I remember feeling so happy and excited and so relaxed all at the same time. We all loved the food here and there was so much choice and I just couldn’t manage to try it all. This must have been a Louis plate #wheresthegreens We laughed so much during this meal. We all had 2 smallish helpings. The kids had chocolate milks and a visit to the dessert section. I’m not a fan of desserts at the best of times and there was nothing at all here that took my fancy The bill came to $205.02 But the dining plan covered that. We did feel as much as we loved it, we wouldn’t pay for it if we weren’t on the plan. Alcoholic Drinks and tips were $65 which we paid for separately. We paid just over the recommended tip as Damane was wonderful. I left him a thank you note before we left on our table. I do things like that when I’ve had a drink. I love everyone! We walked in to the lobby, Hollie watched a few seconds of kids tv. It was lovely and quiet, not crazy like some Disney hotel lobby’s. We decided to explore a little. Ceramic painting in the solarium. Hollie really wanted to do this, but we couldn’t fit it in. We walked past our room. And on to the little bridge where we watched the Epcot fireworks. It was so lovely. We then walked back the way we had come. Past Hurricane Hannah’s The pool quick serve. The pool And on to The Yacht Club. This was our first time here. It was also nice and quiet, but darker than Beach Club. I like light and airy I have to say. But we did prefer their quick serve. Plus they had a better seating area. The kids preferred the drink options here too. Free style cola for the refillable mugs. They filled them up whilst we were here. The store here was a little more up market. We wandered back to Beach Club and Ade bought a cap using the Disney ‘assholder discount! Back to the room. The kids had decided to swap beds each night so they both had a sleep in the double bed. The day beds are great and really quite large. They pull out in one go and are ready made. But they started off doing this for a laugh. So that was our Disney arrival day. Pretty perfect and very exciting. All set for our first full Disney day now and 2 ADRS tomorrow. Yay! Please see today's video on my YouTube channel. Thank you so much for reading along.xxx Edited at 08:50 PM. |
