Watching with interest as I need a new one too, don't want anything too fancy, but I do want a digital model rather than dials. Hoping lovely dibbers can help us.

Ooh, we decided to move with the times and bought one just before Xmas.
Ours is a Kenwood. It’s not huge but serves a purpose, is a higher wattage than some and seems good. It’s digital and I might have preferred a dial actually. Think it was around £70? I only really use it for melting chocolate and reheating things so not sure how well it cooks Edited at 06:10 PM. |

Mine is a built in Siemens at eye level - having this one I would never go back to a counter top one. Although I really only use it to stew fruit or make porridge or for M&S img meals etc its wonderful, silent and so tidy but cost c£650 upwards. Never thought I could rave about a microwave but I certainly do with this one Edited at 06:12 PM. |

You are actually better with dials rather than digital, far less to break and cheaper

Thanks Mitch, but unfortunately as I am partially sighted I struggle to see dial settings so need a digital one.

If I was replacing mine, I'd go for "digital" & "900w or better"; I don't favour one make over the other, so I'm happy with cheap brands.
Not bothered about a grill or combi-oven; just didn't use the function when I had one. One thing to make sure to do, measure your current microwaves turntable... to make sure you don't get a smaller one than you already have. I did that, not realising and my plates wouldn't fit in there; luckily it was bought from Argos so was able to swap it. Oh and I don't like the microwaves without a button to open the door.
