I thought I heard/read back along there may be an announcement today from Mr Joe’s camp ?

Are we feeling any positivity that this may even happen ?

American has set a new record for internal flights this weekend, I doubt the airports could cope with international travel just now!

Just have to hope there’s some news in the next week or so about a possible date. Even if they didn’t open to the U.K. you would expect them to open to the EU counties given their current case rates.

I doubt on Independence Day they’ll be talking about anything other than domestic stuff.

Most Americans aren’t even aware that some countries are still banned. We have US friends based in the U.K. and they were saying to us just yesterday, ‘but you can get back into the US on a negative lateral flow test now’

Ummm yeah, if you’re a citizen or coming from somewhere not on the leper list. 🥴

Couldn’t agree more. We’re currently on holiday in Barbados where virtually everyone in our hotel is American and they are all surprised that we can’t enter the US directly and one couple we were speaking to yesterday summed it up when they said ‘I thought the whole world was back to normal now’.

Unfortunately Joe Biden getting in was possibly the death knell of holidays for us this summer. I can’t imagine they will announce anything in the foreseeable future, but I’m just speculating like everything else. I think it’ll be September. Hopefully their figures are not going up by then and put on a red list.

Today Joe will be having a lovely day in Rehobeth (very nice area, we stayed there about 5 years ago). Unfortunately we cannot do the same.
