Disney on day 1 or 15?
I have discovered that I cannot make any decisions about our Disney holiday without asking for help here first
We are arriving in Florida on the Tuesday evening. We are spending 2 nights off site and will spend Wednesday around IDrive. On Thursday we will be checking into our Disney resort for 14 nights. As the Disney tickets are 14 days we are trying to decide whether we are best starting them on the first Thursday or having a chilled day with the pool, trip to the supermarket, Disney Springs, etc. before hitting the parks for day 1 on Friday. This option means we will able to visit the parks on our leaving day (our flight isn‘t until almost 8pm so will have some time). If you had a choice would you spend a few hours at the parks on the first or the last day? Thank you

We usually take it easy on the first full day. A bit of shopping and lazing around to recover from the flight etc.
Start the parks nice and early day 2 |

For us we always have our last day a full day & will stay until park closing & tend to use the last few hours on the last day to re-visit Disney springs & have lunch/coffee etc but then I know people on here that will go to the parks on their first night after checking in! Personally I couldn't think of anything worse as it's enough trying to stay awake long enough to eat !

I'm not sure if this is still the case but I believe Disney tickets used to be valid on day 15 as long as you missed a day somewhere? Obviously if you're planning on visiting the parks every day this wouldn't work, but if you have any plans for a day off site this could be an option.
Personally I would activate the tickets on day 1 and have travel day free - for an 8pm flight I would want to be leaving for the airport at around 4:30pm which would mean having to leave the park at 3/3:30pm. Whereas if you check in early on the Thursday and head to a park you've got a full day then. You could even head back to the resort for a couple of hours in the afternoon to relax and explore, then pop out to a park in the evening for a couple of hours. I'd spend travel day at Disney Springs or resort hopping

Thank you, I didn’t realise this. I could always book park days for both days and then cancel one closer to the time if we decide we’re not going to visit

I like to utilise the very early wake up on the first morning ( due to the 5 hours difference) to an advantage and get into the park for rope drop.

Day 1 if having to choose. I typically like my final park to be MK in the evening so will do that on the last night, so will just chill at the resort and Disney Springs on the last day.
But as above, you should be able to have a parks free day anywhere in the middle and use your 14th day entry on day 15. |

Normally we would do a park the last day with a late flight but in your scenario I would want to get there ASAP and do a park the first day. The last day doing a park can be a little stressful. I remember one year getting stuck on Buzz Lightyear and panicking we would miss our flight!
