Smallest pup of litter advice

We are due to collect our pup on Monday, breeder texted saying she was small but holding her own with litter. I’m a bit concerned as I don’t want a mini dog, I want a decent sized animal not a teacup dog. Many years ago we bred our Sheltie, her smallest pup was snapped up by an elderly couple but she passed away around another 6/7 year mark. Does anyone have experience of this or any advice xx

Our dog was the only girl and the smallest of the litter, she seemed weak and terrified when we got her. I’m sure she wasn’t getting enough food. She is a healthy westie now with lots of attitude and love, maybe you could save this poor doggy and help it to thourish.

When we got our Springers, Buzz was the smallest, weakest runt of the litter…and it was Woody that we’ve not long lost. 💔

We have X2 Dachshunds from the same litter with Peggy being the runt. She is slightly smaller than her brother Walter but what she lacks in size she more than makes up for in attitude.
She is the boss and he is scared to death of her especially when she steels his ball and won't let him have it back 😅
Touch wood, so far we haven't had any issues with her.
She is on the left in picture for a size comparison.

Our last lab was the smallest of 8 with an 8 year old mum. He had short legs but was normal in every other way and lived till 14.

Our Shih Tzu Walter was the smallest of the litter he’s 4 now and no health issues at all.
His only problem is when there are any big dogs around he thinks he’s a Rottweiler 🤣
