Hertz Marriot Waterside TAmpa
we are flying into Tampa in December and out of Orlando in Jan. Hire car prices for pick up at the Marriot Waterside in Tampa with Hertz is almost half the price of others. I have never used Hertz before and usually pick up at either MCO or TPA. Does anyone have any experience of using Hertz from the Marriot location?

You’ll probably struggle to find someone that has picked up from there but what is it you need to know?
It’s not an airport location, so you won’t get to pick and will be allocated a car. The opening hours will probably be 9-5 and closed for lunch. I used to use Alamo all the time but recent trips have been hertz. Personally I’ve had the same positive experience with both. |

Great stuff, thanks. will be okay with a preassigned car, was just wondering if there was a hard sell on extras, if anyone had the car delivered as per their website or any positive / negative experiences. probasb;y just a bit worried as have never used them before as we usually use Alamo. Thanks again.

We are also picking up from here for our July trip. We too have never used Hertz or collected from outside the airport. Others on here have done similar so someone may have a little more to say about it than we do.
Booked with Andy from DFCH. The price was over £1000 cheaper picking up from here. We've booked a full size SUV and Andy assures me that we have all the cover we need. For a £1000 cheaper we don't mind not choosing from a line of cars. |

I agree completely. Although if you get a "stinker" of a vehicle there are always ways to deal with it. Assuming you are heading up to Orlando you may find you have an "intermittent" engine warning light. If you pop into MCO with this issue I'm sure you could get a swap!

Just a quick update. Pick up was very easy. Hertz desk is on the 3rd floor of the Marriott. No hard sell at all. All was sorted paperwork wise very quickly and we then were told the car would be delivered to to Valet Parking at the hotel entrance. Took about 10 minutes as the car was still being cleaned. Unfortunately it was almost empty of fuel, but the Hertz guy had come down and he adjusted the contract to bring back empty. All very easy and about half the price of the airport.

Thanks for posting - we have hired from here for end July - about a quarter of the cost compared to Tampa airport.
Did you taxi to Waterside - is it far? |
