Hi Ariel, dont just check Andy's website, contact him directly on andy@discountfloridacarhire.co.uk and ask for an offline quote for your dates etc. He recently halved a friends £2k quote for a mid size, plus Andy's had the addition of extra drivers and tank of fuel, for a 26 day rental.

You can book n pay with any credit card.
Plus, as its Hertz its free cancellation up to 48hrs before pick up.
So, if a better deal comes along, I can take advantage of that.

If anyone has any Hertz PC codes then please post as you can double up CPD and PC codes to drive down the rate even more.

You’ll see that the small print says that you may be asked to provide proof.
NEVER, and this covers multiple threads on the Dibb and Flyertalk over the past 10yrs has anyone ever documented been asked for proof of eligibility for a CPD code. Period!

Did you book direct with Hertz ?

Yes, its the only way you can input the code.
Also, if you register first and create a Gold Membership with them, (this is free to do) you get to go straight to the garage and skip the queue.

But is this not fraud?
If you had an accident and were found not to have met the conditions, would insurance etc. not be voided?

Possibly, who knows? Many folk have poured over the Hertz T&Cs and there is NO reference to this or referred to in the T&Cs on the marketing details of the code.
If there was then most people wouldn’t use one and err on the side of caution.
The question has been asked a million times over the years.
The mass consensus of opinion from 100’s of posts is, would using a publicly available and promoted discount code constitute fraud. No one knows as there hasn’t been a documented case put on any forum, so I suppose it’s a risk?

You aren’t required to use an AMEX Plat card at the time of booking, perhaps Hertz should insist on this, as that way Hertz could see who has took up their offer, that’s just good marketing practice so that you can measure the response rate and effectiveness of that particular campaign.
The code was sent to Plat card holders by way of a marketing promotion to boost sale to that database of customers.
At that time Hertz wouldn’t know who still had a live Plat card, I would imagine that the database will have came/been shared from AMEX but how clean and up to date would that be? There may be a large number of lapsed AMEX user on that database, people lose and cancel accounts, pass away all the time, so when the code was sent out it was most probably already out of date.

How on earth would Hertz know if you held one or not?
They have no access to your personal banking data.
The small print “you may be asked to provide proof”, is only to confirm that you are eligible for that rate. Again, people would simply say, sorry, I’ve left that card at home.
If the don’t check and let you leave in that vehicle then there’s a case for not carrying out due diligence.
There’s multiple threads on this on Flyertalk, it gets batted about every so often.
It ends up going in ever decreasing circles.

So, to end, it really all comes down to the end user I suppose?

I understand all that.
My worry would be if I was involved in an accident, it wouldn't just be whether you had forgotten the card or not. There would be a detailed investigation and that would include proving you were eligible for the rate paid.
I guess I am just more risk averse.
I do wonder if the discount is worth getting the card though.

I wont be worth getting the Plat card just for that as the £500 or £600 per annum fee wipes out any saving, but there are other benefits to having a Plat card so it may cost in?
Do you fly a lot? (in normal times)
If you fly multiple times a year for business then the Plat card would get you savings on those flights plus any car hire.

I used to fly to the us maybe 4 times per year (pre-covid). Now retired we hope to increase travelling. So not for business anymore (used to fly most weeks at times when working).

I regularly use the amex platinum discount code, however, I have a Amex platinum card. I would be wary of using this code going forward as since reopening Hertz have been very keen on checking eligibility and axing many corporate codes. Just read some of the travel blogs. There were 2 amex codes for platinum , one has already been stopped. I would proceed with caution!

We just booked into Miami a few days ago with flydrive from BA and total cane to £3500. 2nd half of August. Tampa was over £5000 and MCO over £6000.

There is definitely a large saving to be had if doing a BA holiday flydrive to Miami over MCO or Tampa.
