Hi

Wondering if anyone can offer advice. Me and fiancee currently have covid and are due to travel on the 8th November. CDC recommends not to test as it can still come back positive within 3 months of recovering. On the CDC website it states the below:

"What if I recently recovered from COVID-19?
CDC does not recommend getting tested again in the three months after a positive viral test, as long as you do not have symptoms of COVID-19. If you have had a positive viral test in the past 3 months, and you have met the criteria to end isolation, you may travel instead with documentation of your positive viral test results and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official that states you have been cleared for travel. The positive test result and letter together are referred to as “documentation of recovery.”

A letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official that clears you to end isolation, e.g., to return to work or school, can be used to show you are cleared to travel, even if travel isn’t specifically mentioned in the letter."

We are both double jabbed and I called my GP and they said they couldnt provide this letter as they couldnt test for this, any idea where I would go to get one of these?

Thanks in advance

The QR code for recovery should appear in your nhs app after isolation. I don't know of that is sufficient? Or take a screenshot of your isolation ending notice?

If its lat flow testing and there isn't a clear answer for your question, you won't be testing positive by then so if worst comes to worse, get a supervised lat flow?

Yeah just massively worried that it says not to test

Trying to call 119 to get some information from them about where I could get this letter but I keep getting cut off. So frustrating.

Mind is going mad trying to get everything in order and hoping we manage to get on the plane

It's a pcr test that would be the problem. Keep testing lay flow until you are clear. Let us know what they say.

Thing is - if they are just looking for a signed form then you get one of those with the "send in a photo of the test" providers - how would they know it wasnt done via a video link ?

think there are a number of things they will have to work through before all this is sorted out.

Just in relation to this, I called Virgin and they said that as an airline they dont recognise the letter of recovery and that it would have to be a negative test shown before the flight (Within 3 days of flying)

So yeah, conflicting reports from CDC and Virgin on this, which has made me incredibly nervous and anxious about our Disneymoon

Maybe if they are stating negative test required and they have said supervised lateral Flow test / PCR is required that would probably be your best bet I.m.o

A lot of people, myself included, tested negative again within two weeks, so I appreciate there may be the odd person who takes up to 3 months, but I certainty wouldn't say it's the majority.

Edit - I'm sure I shouldn't be saying this, but a self test is relying on you accurately completing the test. Yes it may be supervised via Teams/Zoom, but they won't know exactly what you're doing with the stick... I obviously wouldn't say that to someone who could actively have and transmit the virus, but if your self isolation is up and this test it just the formality... Queue posts of abuse!
