I would agree to change your name back at your GP. Should be straight forward.
I travelled on my maiden name passport until it expired and it was a pain the one time I had something booked in my married name. This was years ago and if anything, rules are stricter now. So it's not something I'd risk. |

A friend had this issue and she changed her name on GP records to match passport, it’s quite straightforward and doesn’t take long.

Inform your GP. As soon as they change your health record it updates your COVID pass

I’ve been married a while now, but one thing I learned (through experience!) back then was that it was better to to either change name everywhere or keep maiden name - changing name only for some things can cause unanticipated problems. So I would decide which name to use and then get everything aligned, be it new passport or changing name at doctors or anything else.

Absolutely NOT !
It’s the total opposite, you supply your GP with your marriage cert and ask them to revert your medical records to your previous name . I’ve already had this conversation with my GP’s surgery and they have told me it’ll take about two weeks . (Remember the app uses your number which remains the same after a name change) I have no issues with keeping my married name for some things and my previous for others. Lots of women do it for professional reasons, always have , especially if they travel for work it’s very common to keep their passport in their previous name and use their married name for social matters. There is no obligation to change your name let alone your passport upon marriage anyway, it’s only a social convention (and a bit of a dying one at that ) . Edited at 06:24 AM. |

Actually it doesn’t say that ……..from the page you quoted
When you do not need a new passport You do not need to get a new passport if you: change your address or contact details get a new job change your appearance slightly - for example, dye your hair or grow a beard change your marital status (divorce, marry or form a civil partnership) but keep your name change your title, for example, doctor or professor become a national of another country as well as the UK emigrate |
