Have it every year and have never been ill afterwards. Thanks to an earlier thread from Mr TM, having it early this year, in a fortnight by Lloyd’s pharmacy.

What are other people who don't normally have it doing this year?

I normally have it every year and pay for it -- free this year - yeah. I generally get a sore arm for a couple of days. Go for it !

I have also paid for the Pneumonia vaccine and Shingles vaccine in late 2019 / early 2020.

Since I have had the flu jab I have had a healthier winter I always got a chest infection in January/February and I haven’t had once since. I will have it this year

Apparently I’m elegible for it this year because they’re offering it to over 50’s. I won’t be having it.

We had ours yesterday. 5th September. They held a mass vaccination in the local community centre and we had a text message invitation two weeks ago. Seems really early this year. I have had them for the last 9 years, but usually in October. I have never suffered any ill effects apart from a slightly sore arm for a couple of days

I am 60 and have had it every year since I began working in the Hospital 7 plus years ago.

I come into contact with numerous elderly patients. I believe it a duty that I owe to minimise risk to their wellbeing.

I had side effects for the first time last year. My upper arm where injected, aches for a month afterwards.

I am asthmatic but have a pretty bad needle phobia so have not had it before. I have an appointment booked in for this year for two reasons. 1. I am at increased risk of being hospitalised from flu so it my duty to minimise that risk for the NHS this year more than ever. 2. I have been ill since Feb with a cough and breathlessness and noone knows why (potentially asthma, potentially covid after effects who knows) so my personal risk if I get flu is even higher than normal so I feel it is the sensible choice even though my contact with others is severely limited ATM due to health concerns.

My partner is healthy and in his late 30s but he will probably pay for it and get it done for the first time this year to decrease the risk of him catching flu and spreading it to someone more at risk than him. I personally think we should be doing all we can to help the NHS this winter and a sore arm for a few days is worth it. Although the more I think about it the more I hyperventilate... Damn phobia!

The pharmacy at my Dr surgery is doing them on Thursday. I had read they were starting early to try and get as many people vaccinated before winter. My mum has already had hers in her care home.
I’ve been having it for about 10 years- ever since I got flu one Christmas- it was dreadful, I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow I felt so ill.
I have occasionally had a sore arm after the jab but I have very sensitive skin.

Just on this, there was another thread about some boots offering flu jab to those aged under 16. I think maybe 11 to 15 or 16?!

Anyway I called boots and have arranged for my two young teens, who are 13 and 12, so these are avaialbel
