Remembrance Sunday and armistice day is always special.
Being a forces brat and my son joined the forces I always felt proud .
The day of my dads funeral I was saying goodbye to him and to my son as he was going on tour the following day .. .
Their sacrifices will never be forgotten...

I often go down to our local memorial and the catch up on the service and parade from the Cenotaph
Watching the Cenotaph today it looks so poignant and empty, and yes I always cry when they play Nimrod
It’s ironic that it’s perfect weather for the parade

For 35 years that DH was in the RAF he was always involved in Remembrance Sunday, it's very sad to see it this year on TV 😢

Our small village was having a prayer and bugle play today and I hoped to go over (social distancing) but woke up with a migraine. Only managed to stand for the 2min silence viewed on TV. 😢😢😢

Just watched remembrance with my two girls (7 and 9) They had so many questions about what they were watching. It was lovely to tell them why we have Remembrance Sunday and to see them take it in and I could see them thinking about it all. They sat for the two minute silence and at the end the little one said it was a shame they all had to die 😢

Yes it was 🙁

Last year we where in London to see les mis and it happened to be Remembrance Sunday. Our first ever chance to see this and it filled us with pride and compassion for all involved.
A few years ago we went with our friends (he ex army) and were annoyed as we stood in Hyde Park for the 2 min silence that there were so many people just walking around laughing and shouting to each other. They had no respect for what was going on around them.
In fact a group of them tried to deliberately barge through our small huddle of 4 people. Fortunately they took one look at our friends face, shut up and walked around us.

We were the only ones that we could see standing on our doorstep but DH informs me there's something arranged on the village green.

DS's birthday on the 11th November (elective CS, I had the choice of 11th or 14th, obviously I chose the 11th) - he is very proud to have been born on such an important day.

Thank you to all who have served ❤

I was with my mum the other day and we were going through some old photos. I said who is this mum? She told me it was her boyfriend who was killed on D day in France. This makes you think... I might not have been born if she had not married my Dad.

She also told me her sadly departed sister was in love with a Canadian and spent many happy times with him before he went off to France. At the end of the war, still in love, she tried to find out if he survived, only to be told by the military that this information could only be obtained by his wife... he married before he arrived in the UK.

So much happened and destiny was determined by what happened in those years and WW1.

Thought this was lovely on our local memorial this morning.
I observed the 2 mins silence with neighbours outside but then I walked through town afterwards.
I remembered my Gt Uncle who died in August 1918 aged 20 years.

There was a single bugle player at the village Cenotaph this morning with a few people paying respects. DD' s Guide Troop painted rocks and have placed them over the weekend.
