For those who have bought cash tickets, did you buy the Allianz insurance as well?
I hadn't thought of this, I was about to push the button and go for 2 x UC at the £999 price to MCO in May, with a view we could change to later in the year, and pay the difference (minus the £350 VA will pay towards it) Or did you source another insurance? |

DH on phone to virgin now to confirm flights we put on hold yesterday - had to sort leave from work. This is a back up as I can't see our March Hawaii trip going ahead.
Man - MCO upper class in June £1002 each, no miles as all used for March Now to plan our itinerary 😊

£1300 total for 2 people is expensive for Upper Class?! I’d love to know how you can get them cheaper.

As I mentioned in a previous post you have to pay all taxes and carrier imposed surcharges on reward flights and upgrades, sadly there is no way around it. Current fees for a return trip LHR-MCO are;
Economy £255 PE £471 UC £661 -Steve

Hiya Steve - can you advise if one books rewards at 47500 miles and £661pp taxes and fees, should they have to cancel would the usual return of miles and a £30pp admin still apply? Thanks Steve.
As saving miles is generally to purchase reward seats, and whilst I understand some feel Virgins UC £661 T&Fs are too high, to us it's worth every penny and 47500 miles vs the cash fare of circa £2400.

Yes the T&C are the same as the the normal full points rewards (I checked when I booked yesterday).

Oh heck I’ve just booked 2 upper class to lax next sept and didn’t think I could use upgrade vouchers from credit card as only used them before from economy to premium 😮.
So If I’m within the 24 hour cancellation period do you think I could ring them and add the upgrade vouchers? I’ve used 134,800 miles for both of us 😞 |

Yeah, I’m happy with the price - just couldn’t figure out why a previous poster was suggesting the price was too high. Thanks to you for all your info - it’s really helpful
