Special assistance MCO?
Hi Guys,
Well many of you helped me last year and gave me the confidence to book up following my significant illness and disability. Covid had other plans. I’m still here and drawing breath so we have again bitten the bullet and rebooked for 2021! Excited doesn’t come close! Still anxious but hey... I’ve read that special assistance at MCO is no more? Can this be right? I have chronic pain and profound muscle issues. I am dreading the idea of last off the plane into the passport queue also my poor wife will never manage to move me and all the baggage and kids etc. Sadly I can’t move myself due my arms not working strongly enough... the plan is to take my manual chair (too scared to ship my power chair!) check it at the gate if that’s possible?! and then rent a scooter (would rent power chair but we need to be able to drive to places whilst there and power chair not collapsible and chair accessible vehicles were cost prohibitive). Anyway... Once off the plane just wondering in recent 2020 experience how it’s working at the airport? Sorry I do ramble 🤦 ScMcD 🦆 Edited at 11:06 PM. |

It was 2019 last time we flew special assistance is still available they just don't have a separate queue at immigration.
You need to contact your airline and. They will arrange for someone to meet you off the plain with your chair and take you as far as you need. |

My understanding is assistance is available (not sure they would get away with it not being) but as fluffychicken said therre is no seperate assistance queue in the immigration hall any more. Contact the airline and they will arrange the assistance for you. Both sides airport wise they will provide you a manual chair if that's easier for you or my understanding is you can use your own up to the gate and then check it in. As I have an eye condition that limits my use of steps etc I only ever use the non-wheelchair assistance which is usually just a guide through the airport and last year I didn't bother using in MCO as I know my way around there without help but I'm sure they still do the wheelchair assistance

you need to contact your airline, they will refer you to the special assistance team, you will get help at your own airport until you board, and also you will stay on the plane and be last off and get help offered to go through mco.
we did this for our adult son.

The info here is a little incorrect.
Contact MCO directly via Facebook and message them. Give them the flight number, arrival time, your family name. They will confirm. When you arrive, a colleague will wait for you with your name on a board at arrivals and escort you to a booth, be it international or internal and you will be taken to the front of a line. They will escort you through the whole process. Last December we were taken to the front of an internal line. Your airline's responsibility is to get you onto and off the plane. MCO have incorporated the Sunflower Lanyard
