I know exactly what you mean
DS moved into a flat this year, DD lives in Lancashire and won’t be able to travel to Essex for Christmas. DH died a few years ago so it’s just me and the dog. I’m going to be working on Christmas Day 08.30- 4.30
We have a huge Christmas tree in the loft with lots of Disney baubles which is a huge effort to get down and I can’t move it alone
DS and partner are in my bubble and are hopefully popping in on Saturday after I finish work to get it out of the loft but to be honest I’m not particularly fussed about putting it up

We don't usually put our tree up until a couple of days before as I'm not a huge christmas fan. Hubby has to work one day over the holiday period and we're hosting mum in law and my parents but as its the first one since FIL died, we're expecting to be an odd one with lots of running around and no thanks.

Try and take a deep breath and sleep on everything.
Are you absolutely sure you don’t want to spend Christmas Day with your grandchildren? It sounds as if it might not be COVID related informing your decision, so if there is another reason is that not solvable with some discussion?
How you are feeling now might be different to how you might be feeling in three weeks time.
You say you have a stack of presents to wrap, but little enthusiasm. Can you set yourself a daily target of just a few each day? Then once having finished reward yourself with something pleasurable even if it’s only a sit down with a cup of tea.
How about putting on some upbeat music whilst you wrap. Doesn’t need to be Christmas songs.
Are you able to exercise? That lifts the spirits. Again good music whilst walking around the living room feels good. If the weather is bad I often do that and walk around 2-3 miles without even going out.
If you don’t feel like the hassle of putting a tree up then don’t. Give it a rest this year and don’t feel guilty. Don’t put pressure on yourself. Some years mine goes up and some years it doesn’t depending upon if I can be bothered.
If you want to add a quick festive touch just take some of your tree decorations and place them around the room. Lay tinsel on window ledges, around the TV or wherever you fancy. It looks pretty but is quick and hassle free.
However, whatever you decide to do or not do don’t beat yourself up about it.

I’m really feeling down at the moment and as far as I’m concerned Christmas can just come and go.
I’ve got all the presents for the grandchildren piled up in the dining room and I feel the same about wrapping them.
We’ve been invited to our sons for Christmas Day and for a couple of reasons I’m not going into on here I don’t want to go I’d rather stay home.
We get on really well with our DIL and I know they’ll be disappointed if we don’t go
Sorry for the moaning if you’ve managed to get this far but I just don’t know how to snap out of this.
Does anyone else feel like this?

I feel exactly the same - just want the whole thing out of the way without mum here now to share it.

Sending you big hugs xx

I think we all know this but it doesn’t really help any one does it.

If I were OP I would let DH put the tree up if he is so keen ! You never know it might lift your mood a bit when you see it.
You might change your mind about visiting family so leave the decision to last minute. If you are nearby visit but then maybe go home for lunch.

I have to admit I am not a big Christmas lover anyway. I can never be bothered. I was down last week but I actually seem much better this week. Daughter will put our decs up on Sunday and I will leave her to it !

Thinking of everyone who is feeling a bit down x

Totally feel the same about Christmas this year.

I have only just purchased a new tree which I will only be putting up Sunday as DD2 really wants the decorations up.

I’m the same, my mum keeps asking me when the tree is going up, but I’m just not in the mood.

I’m out of work at the moment (like most people) and I’m just feeling rubbish about it, I’ve been doing everything I can to get a new job, but competition is tough. I had an interview today over teams and I wanted the ground to swallow me up, it just didn’t go right for me at all.

Besides that, the cat attacks the tree every year and i spend half my time fixing it anyway.

Here’s my tree 🙊& the best Xmas ever 🎄🇺🇸
Xmas Day run in New York 2016 @ 5am 😳 it was amazing running down 5th Avenue shouting ‘Merry Xmas’ to everyone, even the Police guarding Trump Tower mustered a smile

No pressure at all, just flew off on the 24th no presents no Turkey to worry about, I’d go back in a flash
So if you can’t get in the Xmas Spirit don’t worry just do what’s right for you, be HAPPY 💕💕💕
