An oldie but a goodie! - New York - Sep 2014 - Travel day 1

As I said previously this was a complete surprise to my partner, all along I had told her that we were going camping (she hates camping) in Brighton so advised her to pack wellies and other suitable clothing, I had also said we would be doing a lot of walking around towns and villages so to also pack as if we were doing a city break.

So the morning she wakes up I present her with a pink box containing this guide book I had created. I had taped up certain pages so she couldn’t read to far ahead and see the surprise of New York.

We set off for Brighton and she reads the first few pages of the book saying we are not actually going camping but staying in a hotel, a massive sigh of relief came over her, and to open the next part of her guide book in the morning.

We arrive in Brighton just around lunch, it was a lovely sunny day, so as you would do in any British seaside town we have fish and chips on the beach! Even though it was sunny there were some very mad people in the sea, it must have been freezing.

I have never been to Brighton before so I found a discount code online for an open top bus tour, which was good and gave some good views and saw some bits of Brighton I wouldn’t have seen. We also played in the arcades on the pier and spent what seemed like a months wages on the 2p pusher things.

We had a wonder around the little shops and just enjoyed soaking up the unusual warmth of the September British weather. We checked into the Seattle Hotel which was located in Brighton’s Marina and had a wonderful room overlooking the Marina and the boats. Our room had a little veranda so was lovely to sit out in the sun and soak up the remaining sunshine before the sun set.

For dinner we headed out to the restaurants around the marina and settled on Frankie and Benny’s for hot dogs and burgers, suitability stuffed we headed on back to the hotel and to bed.
