I could cry at this news as well:-(. This will be our 3rd cancelled flight from Glasgow now too:-(. I really don’t want to have to travel from down south as my son is autistic so travelling from local is much easier for him and I will also have a new baby. Gutted xx

I’ve been lying awake thinking about this and it occurred to me that Delta would be a better option. We can fly from Edinburgh with one stop and with more dates to choose from. Of course that’s assuming they’re not pulled!

I’m looking at the delta option too, it’s a codeshare with virgin so they should be able to move everyone onto those flights who booked direct.

Trouble is they are currently £600 a head which is a big chunk extra for much worse flights than direct.

Maybe VA will absorb some of it? We had PE booked and would likely end up with economy delight for the same money as they don’t have PE. That won’t go down well with my Mum! But if VA don’t offer a code share of some kind to get to London or Manchester we may have no choice.

Hello from Virgin Atlantic. We're sorry to advise that in response to the ongoing impact of Covid-19, we have reviewed our seasonal services from Glasgow to Orlando this summer and made the difficult decision to cancel these services, including your flight. We will rebook you onto an alternative flight departing from Manchester.

Seriously? Is that what you’ve received?

After being confirmed on Twitter yesterday I sent them a WhatsApp in the afternoon. Got a response about 9.30pm and after a few going back and forth have changed our flights to Manchester.
I expected an additional charge but it's coming up at the same price on the eticket but on the website shows as £645 more.
We had hotel and parking booked for Glasgow so have just to cancel them and rebook at Manchester although might just take the train.
Might be a option for some people.

It’s the getting to and from Manchester that’s the issue. We’ve done it before and neither drive was fun, especially the return after a night flight. I’d rather be given a choice!

It sounds like flight bookings are still low, and with Sturgeon / Devi pushing for flight bans throughout summer they’ve made a decision to lift and shift the passengers now into MAN- will fill the planes more and if necessary they can maybe use the planes from English airports. Total guess but would make sense as it gives fuller planes and more profit, and deals with uncertainty caused by Sturgeon.
They want to be getting ready now and not find their Scottish flights are banned in June if US opens up and left with a real headache and not enough time to sort.
Makes sense.
