Apologies if I missed it but what is it you are doing. Is it a garage conversion and you're opening it up to the existing kitchen with a new kitchen installation. Or are you moving the kitchen into the garage conversion?
Sounds like everything is progressing well, your project manager must be on the ball with the sequence of the different trades.
Looking forward to seeing it come along

Thank you, it was from Lakeland a couple of years ago. You bought the lid and one layer and then could add other layers. You’ve reminded me I need to see if I can get another one as one has a chip and dh thinks it may crack😓

Thank you, we found a super builder when we moved here, he has already done all our bathrooms, replaced doors/skirting etc and he is co ordinating most of it with just a few bits left to me!

We originally wanted to move the kitchen into the garage and join to a rebuilt conservatory, with the utility in the old kitchen. However, not only did that exceed our budget but it involved planning due to a conservation zone/covenant starting half way up the garden. The other issue was the “flow” through the house would have been tricky, and we hate dark warren like houses where you get between rooms by going through other rooms and actually discounted several because of that, they’re not bad just not for us🥴 Therefore we are knocking the wall between the integral garage down and making a big kitchen diner. We were going to have bifold doors right across the back and just have a stacked washing machine and drier in a cupboard. But again cost came into it with replacing a further steel, therefore we have have come to our current layout with a utility and back door in the corner which avoided replacing a current steel. At least I will get my island and small bifold doors!

The original kitchen ended where the double dashed lines are and the utility was in that corner and you had to walk through it to get to the conservatory. We have just flipped it round which will be good as it is north facing so will be able to go in and out in the winter without opening the bifold to a howling gale!

I don’t think it could ever move fast enough for us living here while it’s done😫

Coming along well, these Guys can really motor along.

Toms tip of the day. Meter boxes aren't as robust as they were 10+ years ago and they now have really shiny doors. To save any damage to the door wrap it in cling film until the Builders have finished. It will still shut and can be locked. Will save buying a new one.

Thank you for that, I read drawings for a living so can picture it easier with a floor plan. That will be a fabulous space, things are moving along well... you'll be sorted in no time

Day 10, counting weekends!
The builders finished ripping out the kitchen, and floor and ceiling!

Plumbers came and started first fix, laying pipes for the new rads, utility water supply and deciding how to move some heating pipes. Window holes were measured and insulation and floor panels arrived, which they started filling in between the joists to give me a warmer kitchen!

I tidied the conservatory and tried to get into some sort of order for the next few weeks!

Ahh, nice to see some old fashioned herring bone strutting between the joists (The X made out of 2" x 1"). I must have cut tens of thousands of them!

Good job to get that insulation in.

What purpose does it serve? What do they use now?
