I moved out four years ago aged 21 when I bought a house with my now fiancé.
Things were never good at home with my mum and I wanted to leave as soon as possible. I do sometimes envy those who have lovely home lives and who don’t feel the urge to leave. My eldest brother left part time at 13 to live in a boarding school for children with SEN and then he left full time at 15, when he started living between foster care and the school and eventually his own flat. Although he now lives in supported living. My other older brother left home at 17 to live with my grandparents and then he left them at 21 to live with friends. Edited at 10:42 PM. |

I left at 18 to go to uni and never went back. Living on a small island I was desperate to escape and be in a big city. My daughter is 18 next year, hopefully off to Uni- shes already decided to stay local so will be with us a few years yet. 😁

That’s great, very impressed😊I would have loved more but stopped at 3 🤣. DD is about to have number 4 and is only 25, her partner is one of 7 so she might have more.

I left at 30
After I completed teacher training, it was a few years before I had a full time contract (I always had full time work though) for the mortgage. I remember getting super excited when I had enough for a deposit, even though I didn't qualify for the mortgage and then realising that I had to furnish the place too! Very grateful to my mum and dad being happy to have me for so long - in the recent climate and buying alone, it wasn't easy. My middle sister left at 27 when she bought a home with her partner. The youngest is now 27 and still at home with no deposit building up. I fear she's staying forever... |

I left for uni at 17 and never went back to living with my family again.
I loved home too. My son hasn't left home yet but he did start boarding school at 11 so it definitely feels like it. |
