Booking 1 bed then cancelling studio ...

Can someone please confirm that I can do the following without penalty (we've owned since 2010 but we've never cancelled stuff before).

We have a studio booked for 11-13 Sept. A 1 bed is available for same dates so if we book the 1 bed then cancel the studio, will the points go back into this year and we'll be able to bank them if need be?

As long as they are current year points (ie not banked or borrowed) that you used for your studio, and that you haven’t passed your current year banking deadline then yes.

why don't you use the new modify function. It will let you select the 1 bed without loosing your studio reservation until you confirm the modification. That way you'll use the studio points plus any additional for the 1 bed

Yep as above, modify rather than cancel the studio. It will then use those points first, apply them to the new booking, and ask you where the balance of points is to come from if you have more than one contract, or need to borrow.
