Now live!

We have just turned in ahead of our flight in the morning. My DH does not want to be named and I can't call him DH for the whole thread so he has decided I can call him Neville or Nev.

So we arrived and I checked in as Nev parked up, I received two free drink vouchers which I pocketed and went upstairs but unfortunately my card did not work in the lift, but other peoples did, but then it did not work at the room so I had to return downstairs. By this tine, Nev had parked up so we decided to have a free drink in the lounge. I had a Sauvignon Blanca which was lovely and he had a red IPA.

We arrived at the hotel a bit later than we had planned and thought we would just have room service tonight. However as we sat with our free drinks we spotted a Pan Asian restaurant called Vanda that we have not seen before and decided to eat there instead.

We walked in at about 8:15pm and were seated straight away. We got a table for four for the two of us so had some space but it did feel very busy, noisy and crowded. The service was abrupt, we do not require our server to make friends with us but this really was abrupt.

Anyway we ordered our starters first of all, soft shell crab for me and duck spring rolls for Nev. they arrived quite quickly and were superb.

The crab had a lovely delicate spicing and the spring rolls were packed full of duck and not padded out with bean sprouts or anything else. We both tried a bit of each and agreed they were completely delicious.

Ooh yummy soft shell crab is one of my all time faves. They had it as an appetiser in California Grill in 2016 I wish they’d bring it back...

We then moved onto main course and I ordered lemon chicken and Nev ordered crispy chilli beef and we had an egg fried rice to share.

We both very much enjoyed our own dish and each other's. My chicken was lovely, the sauce was very lemony and you really would have to want a lemon chicken, Nev said his beef was delicious and pleasantly rather than strongly spicy.

The restaurant had also got more pleasant, for us, by this time as it was now 9:15-9:30. It was quieter and had a really very nice ambience.

Overall we both have this a 7.5 out of 10.

Got to the airport and through check in and security very quickly. The BA lounge has quite a big selection of food although hot options are a bit limited, we made some fairly similar choices. I had mine with apple juice whilst Nev had bitter lemon mixer (weird). The vegetable frittata was nice bit a little bit cold, Nev enjoyed the bacon roll and thought the hash browns were nice although acknowledged they were soggy. I didn't really like either very much, I like my hash browns crispy on the outside.

Later on we had a latte each, actually we had two each in the same mug as they come out pretty small. I had one of the cranberry biscuits which was nice as was the coffee.

Overall rating a 5.

Next update will be the inflight and first night in Orlando, at this point we are planning on Panda Express.
