We’re going to our local Odeon. I’d already bought a couple of discounted ticket codes through my works perks website. I wanted to see Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in June but discount codes aren’t accepted so I’m using them for Rocketman instead.

Who also has fond memories of our UK icon?

I agree Tumbleweed connection is great and raw but defined Elton, Come down in time is a master piece.

Also like Levon from Man across the water too...

To be honest, there's only a handful of tracks i dont like. The good thing about Elton is that there is always more tracks which you have missed over the years or forgotten and then you hear it and think wow.

As you know I am not fond of music. However in the early 70's we used to nip over to Bristol for ice skating and a beer. My mate always had a tape recorder in the footwell of his car blasting out Elton John through a tinny speaker.

I can still remember a lot of the words from the songs. Very good actually

Indian Sunset - yes, another great with an awesome intro - think that too was from Madman across the water as well..

Theres also I've Seen the Saucers and Take Me to the Pilot again which were songs which you never hear and you have to go hunting for.

Now im just watching Elton videos on you tube!

As i awoke this evening with the smell of wood smoke clinging
Like a gentle cobweb hanging upon a gentle tepee
Oh i went to see my chieftain with my war lord and my woman
For he told us that the yellow moon would soon be leaving
This i cant believe i said i cant believe out warlords dead
Oh he would not leave the chosen ones to the buzzards and the soldiers guns

Indian sunset - elton john
