Some ramblings and photos of our trip to France and DLP
Just thought I would jot a few ramblings down about out trip to DLP and La Croix du Vieux Pont campsite
We were just 3 - me DD20 and DS16 - as DW works at a school so was home alone - enjoying a deserved break We drove down on the Sunday from near Manchester and took the DFDS Ferry to Dunkirk ( as DD was scared of migrants at Calais 😩 before stopping overnight at Arras . We went on to spend Monday to Friday at DLP then Friday to Monday at LCDVP before getting home on the Tuesday Driving Driving in France is so much easier than in England . No major queues or roadworks , though the speed limit keeping changing was confusing at times . We did a mixture of the toll roads and the country roads which was a good mix . A feature was the world war memorials which were very humbling Weather The weather was generally great . Indeed a little too hot for theme parking at times . Just a couple of hours drizzle one morning and good sunshine most of the rest of the time Disney So we had half day Monday and Friday and three days in the middle but didn’t really do a full day any day, which was great as we never felt rushed As a result of my DDs anxiety we got an easy access pass which was a godsend . We could go to each ride , and were given a return time to come back and then generally went through the fast pass queue. The ‘ virtual queue was generally between 1/3 and 2/3 of the standby queue and enabled us to do our own thing - a sit in the shade , a toilet break , a snack , even s short queue other ride Fave rides were buzz , big thunder , tower of terror We all loved the firework show which was saw twice The only downside was that there were quite a lot of rides not available and not much in the way of shows / films in the studios We got an annual pass and hope to be back next April or May La croix du vieux pont This campsite about an hour and half north east of DLP We got allocated by Eurocamp a basic but large caravan in a great spot near the lake with the sun on the deck nearly all day We visited Pierrefonds , a really pretty town with a great castle ,and had an afternoon at Parc Canopee . a go ape style course The campsite was beautiful with Great Lakes with flying fish in and well manicured fields and good swimming areas and other activities The weather made it a really relaxing weekend Food / anxiety As most of you know my DD suffers from anorexia and anxiety So all meals are simple , we took a toaster and a mini fridge so even at Disney we could self cater to a point . McDonald’s didn’t offer an alternative to chips in their happy meal which was a surprise and a panic to DD so Burger King tended to be our outlet of choice. Living the high life My DD limited her food quite a bit but I wasn’t going to spoil the holiday by arguing. What was more noticeable was how anxious at times DS was both over his food and in situations where he had to take responsibility. A lot of work to do But was really pleased with DDs general coping , she managed the slides at the pool and enjoyed the go ape stuff , so definite progress Overall a really good break - pictures to follow

I'm so glad you had a lovely trip and it's great you were able to get the access pass to help alleviate your DDs anxiety.

We’ve stayed at that campsite many, many times, it’s a really great place to relax but also has some good day trips of you want them. Glad you all had a good time x

Thank you . The pass was a massive help. Reduced the anxiety greatly , meant we didn't have to rush to get EMH as we knew our wait times would be lower than others , and sitting in the shade chilling was relaxing
We were really impressed , had read bad reviews about the eurocamp caravans there but although basic there was lots of room and a great deck. Beat a wet weekend in Morecambe that's for sure

Looks a great trip, you all look really happy. The camp site sounds lovely, a nice alternative to staying at a hotel with nice outdoor space.
We have not been to DLP and will definitely go soon 😀 |
