Hopefully they’ll have some tickets left when it opens to everyone else two days later and you can snap up some

Will be interesting to see if this sells out, or will it go via the EPCOT Star Wars event mess.

We are there over Christmas and NY this year and since planning the trip months and months ago had always planned to book dinner at topolino on NYE to enjoy Epcot’s 6:30pm fireworks show as we have 3 children under 5 so they’ll all be in bed by 8pm and we’d rather not have to tackle the Epcot crowds!
When I phoned up at 180+10 to book for NYE, imagine my disappointment when I was told that both Topolino and Toledo weren’t taking bookings for that meaning meaning all 3 roof top restaurants (including Cali Grill) were being taken out of action for over priced NYE parties. The greed is just unbelievable. I just find it incredibly short sighted as none of these parties can be enjoyed by families regardless of the cost. Why not allow dinner bookings for the earlier fireworks showings at 6:30pm and then close the restaurant to get ready for the extortionate NYE ticketed parties at 8pm. It’s just so disappointing when you really plan your trips to make the most of every opportunity to then find out it’s all a waste of time. I’ve seen that TOTWL is also now closed for a ticketed event so I’m glad we weren’t banking on going there like we have in previous years before children! Very glad I booked my theme park view room at BLT at least that way we know we can definitely enjoy the MK NYE fireworks from our balcony whilst the children sleep - at least we can guarantee they can’t take that away from us!

HOLY CRAP.
I have this restaurant booked for xmas day breakfast & dinner, got to choose one, because, let's face it, as a signature it's going to be expensive enough! But this?! No way could I justify it. That is insane. |

To be fair to WDW, the NYE events have always been very very expensive. I can’t remember the exact amount but Cali Grill NYE was about $400 each (though I seem to think it included more) in 2016/7.
I guess this one is even more because they are testing the upper limit of what guests are prepared to pay.

And now they’ve finally announced the special NYE party at Toledo for $400 per person! So annoyed they’ve taken all 3 rooftop locations completely out of action on NYE

A premium evening on probably the most premium date of the year? I don't see the problem with charging for it.
I've just checked how much a rooftop restaurant/bar is in London for NYE. Most are more expensive that this. The rooftop is available at WDW for over 360 days a year, go than instead. |

If the 2 of us were staying at SSR in that period (no chance!) and wished to avail ourselves of this event it would be $1100 plus an Uber each way as there is free drink.
That would probably be in the region of $100 for the trip back due to surging. I know we all do as we wish with our money and what suits one doesn't suit another. But wow $1200+ for some distinctly average food and a partial view of the fireworks. I wouldn't pay that as long as I breathe. The top hotel in S. Wales. Black tie, drinks reception, entertainment, excellent menu £185 each. Plus if you wish to stay a big reduction on room rates.
