EMH at MK
I have a question about the extra magic hours at magic kingdom since they started letting people up Main Street before park opening...
How do they differentiate between onsite guests and other visitors? They have ropes at the entrances to fantasyland for example and it isn’t possible to check with the volume of people. Is early morning extra hours not really a thing anymore? |

They have CMs at the Hub ropes scanning bands. You'll be let past the rope if you're an on-site guest. Even on busy days, the vast majority of guests don't bother to be up and at the park before 8am, so it's an easy crowd to manage.

Same as the evening hours (people are already in the park then) people can access main street and the shops but you have to scan your magic band to get on any rides and that will tell them

Oh I see... that makes sense. When we were there in May there were hundreds of people waiting to get in at the hub and I wondered why we had bothered going to EMH at 8am when they dropped the rope and everyone was in. I didn’t think about the rides being checked. More fool us for getting in standby lines! I guess we could have used fast pass lines perhaps.
