I too dislike doing them but they are easy. I do what Mick says I do them, DH checks with me then we double check at the end total overkill lol
Please dont forget middle names I had to redo mine recently due to this. Just read every ? Just do them it feels amazing once done ha ha

I have done mine previously and our most recent ones last night with no middle names and never had an issue

You won’t have an issue with getting an ESTA when not putting in a middle name if you have one ( although it does say to put it in when you press the ? button next to the box you have to fill in), as the system doesn’t know if you have a middle name on your passport or not.
However, some Dibbers asked the question to Homeland Security, and the reply was that you MAY get de.ayed on arrival at the airport if the passport and ESTA don’t match. What that means I don’t know, you may have to answer some extra question, or something else, we will just have to wait until someone reports it back, as it’s just been in place since October time. |

Interesting. We did ours last night and it only asked for first given name. I'll report back if were delayed but I seriously doubt it

Did you do them on the official ESTA site?
This is a screen shot of the information shown behind the ? symbol against "first name". Clearly says if you have more than one first name on your passport then you should include them all on the ESTA application. Mick

When the "first names on ESTA" went viral on here a couple of weeks ago I recall a few posts suggesting that it was introduced in Oct 2018 but I don't think that anyone provided first hand evidence of that date from the US C&BP.
From my experience of renewing our ESTAs last May (each of us have two first names on our passports but only one first name on our ESTA) we travelled to Florida in November with no issues. I noted this at the time of the recent thread. However I don't think that we saw any posts at the time from people who had done a post-October ESTA without putting multiple first names on their ESTA if they had them on their p/p and had trouble travelling. Mick

I recently applied and received our approved Estas in January before
reading on here that you should put your full name on the application. As we have had numerous Estas in the past I did not click on every ? on the form, so did not put both names on each estas. I am just waitingto hear if anyone who got their Estas after October (when it was seemingly changed) have since travelled and have had any problems at immigration. Maureen |

We, typically, travel as a group of up to 14 people. We have applied for ESTAs for all the party and find most are approved immediately but about 1 in 4 or 5 are marked "pending". We get notified within a couple of days that they are approved too.
I have assumed, maybe incorrectly, that most applications are approved straight away assuming all the Q's are answered positively but they undertake some fairly superficial checks on a fixed sample. This would explain how my brother got an ESTA on a couple of applications but was rejected last year and had to apply for a Visa. |
