Flight prices

Hi, in the process of looking at booking for next April. Was originally planning on flying with virgin but was curious yesterday and looked at flying on Dreamliner. Was on my phone and for some reason wouldn't let me do April 2018 so just had a look for April 2017 thinking it would be super expensive due to how near it was, came in at £1143 for 2 adults and 2 children. Couldn't believe it so thought definitely going to book with Thomson. Got on the computer today to see if I could get a quote for next year and it came in at just over £2000. That's really what I was expecting to pay but does anyone know if the price is likely to come down to something nearer to what they're quoting for a few weeks time?

No. It will not.
£500pp for Thomson TUI is a very good direct price, obtained by booking well in advance.
£1143 or £285pp is a great price, obtained by being very much last minute.

If you want good prices, then look at 10to 10.5 months before your return flight when the airline carriers are in the market. You are still over a year out and thus only looking at the package operators.

There were plenty of deals for 2 adults, 2 children for £1200 when flights were released at 11 months last year and the year before.
