Prosthetic limb at water parks 😬

Hello real stab in the dark here for advice but if you don’t ask you never know !

My little girl will probably have had her amputation by the time we go in September. So this will be our first time doing the parks with a prosthetic leg. The main parks don’t worry me but what about the water parks ? Do you think she will be able to climb up and then have to remove the prosthetic limb to go down ? Or will she be able to slide with it on ? I wouldn’t have thought so.
I was hoping someone had experience with this or perhaps has seen someone at a park with this

This is perfect ! I did think there might be restrictions. Hopefully not too many as she loves the water parks. Thanks so much for this

just to say she might still be finding her stump quite delicate/tender at that stage particularly if shes doing a lot of walking at the parks...is she still of the age where she might use a pushchair? Kids often adapt much more quickly to a prosthesis than an adult but any slides where she might bash her stump may need to be avoided for this trip at least, i'm sure her dr's/nurse will be able to advise. Certain types of prosthesis would be damaged by water immersion….& u don't want to risk any damage that might result in her not being able to use it to walk. Again, the prosthetist who fits her new leg will be able to advise you. In the future, as kids grow quickly & need legs replaced, sometimes people hold onto an "old" prosthesis as a spare to use in this sort of situation! Thank you I thought I would take the wheelchair still as she’s used to using it herself but she’s a keen swimmer and the water park is her favorite she should only be months post op. We had thought of moving the date but we were told she would be fine by this stage 😬 it will all be new but we will adapt as needed. She will be furious if she can’t go on them 😫

oh i'll keep my fingers crossed! swimmings a fab exercise & she probably feels so free in comparison to being on dry land ,I know most people tend to swim minus their prosthesis but obviously its working out all the access issues. In a year or so i'm sure u wont be able to keep up with her!
