I put a max of $200 on the card and just top up on demand from my bank account when needed.

This way, my cash is always in my own bank account and in the event the card stopped working i can top up to my wifes revolut or my fairfx card.

We top up around half our spending money when we think the rate is good & then on arrival we spend that & just top up as & when we need it from our bank. Last time we had $1000 on arrival.

I tend to put full spends on it, but (unless I have good reason) I don't top it up until a day or two before going away.

I dont worry if i can help it. Two different cards last time I went. I had a couple of grand between them. I just take care when I use them. In Disney you cant fail. I swipe at desk and spend away on the Magicband. Have never topped up as I go along.
For example, Im going to Atlanta in may , I will have about $1500 on Post Office. Going to Disney in September, I will have anything between Ł2000-$3000 on Caxton depending how much I can get together. Just dont leave your card out of your sight

When we went in August we had roughly $1500 on ours. It worked fine, and I love that you get a notification every time it’s used. I withdraw money from it, then freeze the card till I need to use it again. It’s worked for us on our past 5/6 holidays with no issues.

We have $2600 on ours and will probably take about $500 cash.

We will also have our credit cards.
