Help please with queuing

I am going in May with my then 11 year old daughter, she has recently been diagnosed with a condition called small bowel Intussusception, which causes her to also have the symptoms of IBS, she also has a problem with her bladder, which basically means that when she needs to go to the toilet she needs to go straight away, I’m a bit worried about how this will be when we are queuing for rides, obviously we will have fast passes for some things, but not all, I’m assuming we won’t be able to just leave a queue and then rejoin without losing our place ? Are there any allowances for things like this?

Any help or advice would be really appreciated from anyone who has any experience of anything like this

Go and speak to guest services when you get there about your daughters needs they may be able to help you. Unfortunately there are some individuals who block people getting back into the line if they've had to leave due to issues such as these. Hope you have a lovely time

You can use the DAS service which lets you approach the cast member near the ride entrance and ask for a return time - ask on the special needs forum for more details

Definitely speak to Guest Services & definitely have some written proof of the medical diagnosis. I have no idea of what Guest Services can/will do, but am sure they will do what they can to assist. May well be worth contacting them in advance to enquire what medical proof they need so you are not disappointed.

It is a difficult one, as if you leave the queue and then try to rejoin where you left off by passing other guests, there will invariably be some guests who think you are queue-jumping. (This is before you have the South American tour groups who have queue-jumping down to a fine art).

I used to work at a UK theme park and guests who were unable to queue due to medical reasons (& had written proof) were often issued with wristbands to allow them access to rides via the exit. They did have to clamp down on this due to abuse of the system and now you get a card with your wristband where the ride host writes down the current time + the current queue time. So if you board ride A via the exit at 11am and there is a 30min queue, you cannot board your next ride via an exit until 11:30am.

Also, unofficially we used to let guests leave the queue for toilet-stops if they passed a point where there was a ride host present, e.g. passing behind a ride entrance. We'd let the guests needing the toilet out, on the condition the remainder of their party stayed put at that point and let other guests pass them in the queue. When the toilet-visiting guests returned we just re-inserted them at the same point - the entire party had lost at least 5mins queue time so no-one could complain about queue-jumping. No idea if Disney CM's have this sort of flexibility.

In the US they are not allowed to ask for medical proof. Just explain the circumstances and you should be able to get a DAS card.

Speak to guest services as they are likely to give you a das pass which allows you access straight away if the queue is less than 15 minutes and over 15 minutes they will give you a return time, if you use this side by side with your fast passes you will be ok. Don’t worry about bringing written letters/evidence as they aren’t allowed to ask for it in the US.

Thank you so much for all of your advice, sorry I put the question in the wrong section, I didn’t think we would be allowed a DAS as I don’t really see it as a disability as such, but think I will email Disney and ask, see what they say, I have absolutely no problem at all waiting the same as everyone else, but as it’s just me and her it might be problematic in the queues, I’m not comfortable with her going off on her own, have always been with others before this trip
