Up north / down south ?

To me “Down South” is London/ Surrey/ Middlesex and all the “Home Counties”. Then Wales I always think of as their own country, Cornwall and Devon are part of my heritage despite of me living “ Up North” and to me North is much further up than Leeds which let’s face it is part of the lovely county of Yorkshire ( always either East or West depending on which side you live or visit. To me the rest is other East Midlands/ West Midlands and Merseyside and further up is good old Cumbria before you get to the border with gorgeous Scotland.

West Cumbria also... you must drive slow: 2 1/2hrs, three with a break for a KFC/BK on the motorway

Everything north of the Thames is up north. Down south is the coast.

I’m in the West Midlands. So to me, the North is anywhere north of me, and the South is anywhere south of me 😆

Im in Devon and tbh anything past Bristol is 'up north'.

DD lives in Manchester, which I think is a great city.

But my thoughts about 'up north' are cold, grey skies and rain rain and more rain! Love visiting but love coming back 'down south' warmer weather, blue skies and not so much rain, oh and I miss seeing the sea when i'm away anywhere without it.
