Not crazy at all! In fact we are considering something similar for 2022 with kids if similar ages. A fellow dibber ( missmouse) has done a trip report for a similar west coast/ Florida trip. She also has a YouTube channel which shows the vlog of the trip- it was this vlog that made us want to plan something similar, so I’d highly recommend. Her YouTube channel is called ‘life with Lisa’.

I've price up a similar trip (5 days DLR, 2 weeks orlando) and the only reason I didn't go ahead was that the price was more than we could afford

but that was definitely in my plans (and still is for an unforeseeable future.

You'd have guessed that I'm in the Go For It camp here.

We didn’t notice any difference in jet lag flying to LAX, then flying to MCO but flying East is much worse in my experience, so I think you’re better off flying into LAX & out of MCO.
You’d probably be better off doing a split stay if you want to see some sights in LA as well as Anaheim.
It was 15 years ago but we stayed at the Orchid Suites in LA. Basic accommodation (think Econolodge level) but reasonable prices & with 2 teenagers, their 2bed condos might suit you. Small Swimming pool which is a bonus in LA!
Hollywood isn’t the best area but they’re located behind the Chinese Theatre. You can see the Hollywood sign from level 5 of the shopping mall next door & there’s loads of transport/ tours options.
Happy plannng!

If you’ve not done a cruise before, don’t rule it out quickly. We did our first DCL trip last year and will be adding our second on to our Disney trip next year. It’s not cheap, but when you work out the true cost onsite it’s not so different per day and it is an amazing experience

Thanks all. I should say this will be a 3 week trip so time shouldn't be an issue. In regards to the cruise I'm not 100% ruling it out!

My friend did this - similar length holiday, but Florida first, then California. They loved it, so I say go for it!

Do you fancy a three week trip in California? We’ve far preferred those to all our three weeks in FL

Not yet. We still have too much unfinished business with Florida.
