Motorhome hire- Insurance excess- wow!

Hello,

Decided to try a motor home for a short break. Ready to book and have now discovered a a minefield of insurance excess add ons.

So used to CDW in Florida and £0.00 excess, most companies I am looking at have excess between £1000-£2000. The hire is only £600!

Can anyone recommend a good policy to cover insurance excess?

Or a motor home hire company with a sensible excess (we are in Scotland)

Thanks Dibbers

Be very careful of who you hire from. There are a few shady companies out there that will turn you over with false damage claims.

This isn't referring to Redrach1903 obviously...

This is my worry having read a few reviews and the super high excesses...Would like to take out a policy to cover the excess should anything happen (as accidents can!)

OP. When I hire a normal van to move gear it tends to have a £1k excess but for about £10 or £12 I can reduce that to circa £100. How much does the company want for your hire to do that?

Excess is a killer in Europe sadly

This is my issue...Company are offering a reduction from £1000 to £500 excess for a fee of £199! I think I need a seperate excess insurance plan. Happy to have an excess, appreciate its an expensive vehicle, just not happy with excess costing more than hire. will be a nervous wreck!
