WDW trip planning 2022

Hi,

I’m very premature but with this crap year and our WDW trip cancelled in May. My husband and I have decided to plan another trip in 2022.

This may be a stupid question but can you book a WDW hotel without going through a travel agent such a TUI or virgin? Is it just the WDW website or are there other sites out there?

Also, do you find booking through a travel agent or diy better for your budget?

I always book through Disneyholidays

I cannot see any benefit in booking through a TA, I am definitely glad I booked directly this year as it was so easy to get refunded.

We booked this year through Disney and had no problem getting a refund either.
We are looking at Oct 2022 and so far have booked discovery cove tickets on a black friday sale ,deposit only.
It feels good to be sort of planning again, we will do it bit by bit as offers come up.

We will be going 2022 and I’m not going to use a TA for anything. If we stay onsite at Disney(if everything is back to normal)then I will only book direct with Disney.

Can I ask about your Discovery Cove tickets? I can only see Black Friday deals that are up to end of 2021.

Oh that’s great. We managed to get a refund for our May holiday this year but it took TUI nearly 20 weeks to release the payment 🙈.

Also, I think it’s becoming even more expensive to book through a TA

The TA we used for this year (also May!) got us £200 off direct and saved us a fair chunk on flights too, we didn't book a package, I shopped around and he was cheaper than direct. Refund was easy as he sorted it for us with all the suppliers, although he was a bit sneaky trying to get us to cancel which would have protected some of his commission and lost our deposit, so I wouldn't go into it with my eyes closed. He got our Virgin flights refunded to us much quicker than the direct customers though.

So I would consider a TA again but only if cheaper.

I think booking it myself will be the best option. I’ve price the same holiday on a TA site and booking all the parts separately and we can save over £1500 . I understand that the 2021 prices will be diff to 2022 when we are looking but just wanted an idea of how much to save.

I was so sad when our holiday was cancelled it’s amazing to start planning again

Yeah I think that’s our best option too. It seems cheaper to book ourselves rather than with a TA.

I know it’s so far away but I can’t help but get excited and want to start planning now

Do sorry to hear you trip got cancelled too. Are you looking to go back in 2021/2022 ?

That’s really interesting, so far the comparisons I’ve done for the dates we want to go in 2022 are coming up cheaper to book ourselves rather than with a ta but I do think there is more security doing it that way . I just want to make sure we are getting the best value for our budget
