Mobile Any medical people on here?

Under normal circumstances a trip to A&E or the emergency doctors would probably happen.
As we are not under normal circumstances I am hoping we can sort this out at home. Doesn’t help being a Sunday evening and everywhere is shut and we only have plasters.
My husband sliced his finger yesterday on glass. At the time I thought it was a slice/line/cut etc. He put a load of plasters in it to stop the bleeding as the blood kept seeping through.
The plasters are a bloody mess so he has removed them. What I thought was a cut is actually a missing chunk of skin.
If you imagine a pound coin in size and depth that’s the size of the hole.
Its white and yellowish and seeping with blood.
He is now holding kitchen roll under his hand and letting air get to it.
It can’t be stitched, I don’t think its too wide. But I am not sure what to do with it?

I know the dibb is not a medical place but there is nothing else I can do on a Sunday night so i am great full for any advice.

I really think you go to A/E , it could be infected and need antibiotics. They probably cant do much about a repair but if it was me I would get it checked

Have you got a minor injuries unit nearby? our local one was great when DH cut his head open, the opening hours vary but one of ours is open 24/7

If you have a Minor Injuries Unit near you take him there. From your description although it may not be able to be sutured but he still may need it dressing properly and may need some antibiotics if it's infected

Our hospital has a building on the premises for that. You still report to a&e snd they send you over.
I am putting my foot down and making him go. I can’t look at it without feeling faint. Its a mess and obviously infected.

Definitely go and get it properly looked at. My friend cut hers on a blender, tried to deal with it herself. She developed a pretty nasty infection. I wouldn't risk it 🙂 probably nice and quiet anyway.

Definately a visit to A&E to stop the risk of infection and nerve damage.
Hope you get sorted.

Yes I completely agree with the other posts, he needs to have it looked at.
Good luck

Let us know how he gets on there, our local a and e and minor injuries, we have an app to check wait times and how many people are there, it’s really useful x
