Couple of Questiond about Davy Crockett Ranch!

We are off in about 5 weeks! So excited Just a couple of questions I wondered if anyone could answer for me please!

What will we need to bring and what is supplied?
Things like crockery, cups, bed linen, towels, washing up stuff etc.

Is there a fridge and a freezer in the cabins?

We have a 2 bed cabin but wondering about the layout, will we fit a child in a 'readybed' (blow up bed) on the floor of the main bedroom or is it really small? My youngest wont sleep in a different room when we are away!

This may seem like a silly question but does anyone know how the doors open from the inside? I have had some issues at caravans in Haven etc. as the doors have very simple low down locks which just twist to open, have been very worried about curious toddlers escaping!

Has anyone eaten at the restaurant here and knows types of food available and what it was like?

Thank you!

I/we love the restaurant at DCR, it's a buffet style, with plenty to choose from.

It's a few years since we stayed, but we always used to run out of washing up liquid. All bedding, towels etc are provided the same as in any hotel. You have a short walk to the front of each section each morning to collect your breakfast, they are not as good as a hotel breakfast as you can't really choose what you want or go back for 2nds etc.

The main front door is lockable similar to a standard double glazed door, can't picture the internal door handles, but think they are normal, (not caravan type), they are defo proper doors and not thin flimsy like caravans. There is a fridge/ice box in each kitchen. You might find it a little hard to fit a put up bed in your room, I seem to think that there wasn't a real lot of space, and the other bedroom is at the oposite end of the cabin with the living/kitchen dividing them.

we stayed a few years ago the log cabins (caravans) are the same as haven the 2 bed room cabins have a room at each end one with a double and one with a bunk bed.not much room for another bed next to the double. the locks on the doors are the same as all caravans a twist lock.

the food there isn't bad as i remember it was a help your self i think, the breakfast is very good you have to get up in the morning and walk about 30yards to a hut to collect it. they will give you two bags of food just for breakfast if you need more then just ask. if you are going to cook forget it you have one maybe two rings to cook on and a microwave.

but we had a great time lots of stuff going on in the evening for the kids and the pool is clean and warm

hope you have as much fun as we did

If you are in one of the newer cabins, the second bedroom has three beds. You could all sleep in there.

We've stayed here about 3 times, the last time was a couple of years ago. We love the cabins. I agree with what the others have said, I think you'll struggle to put a ready bed up in the main bedroom. There might just about be enough space at the bottom of the bed between it and the vanity unit but I'm not sure. The other bedroom has two really comfy bunkbeds in it.

We love the breakfasts at the Davy Crockett Ranch and have never been able to finish them. We generally end up eating the huge croissants and making the baguettes into lunch/snacks to take into the park. We've stayed there in the winter and spring and have always found the cabins very cosy and warm. There's definitely enough crockery and cutlery althoug I always take a couple of extra big mugs with me for my early morning cup of tea.

I have to say that we've always cooked our own meals in the cabin. We freeze something like a home-made bolognese sauce to have with pasta the first night we get there and it defrosts on the journey over. We have a second home-made frozen meal in the cooler bag which is still frozen when we arrive but is put in the fridge to carry on defrosting for our 2nd meal. Then on the 3rd night we have jacket potatoes done in the microwave, with beans and cheese. So it is possible!

Make sure that any food you have is stored inside sealed containers though as my daughter's birthday cake was devoured by ants on our last visit as someone forgot to put the lid on the tin properly!

Have a lovely time!
