Packing!

How mad is this we have started packing

The end of school is always a busy time of year for us, so my wife and I both gave ourselves a day off (benefits of being self-employed) today and have packed the two youngest DD's cases.

Just thought I would share our tip for packing clothes for young children - we buy large freezer bags and label them up for each day then put the clothes for that day in the bag. This has two BIG advantages - unpacking is just a case of putting the bags away in date order and when it comes to getting ready in the mornig they can get the right bag out and get themselves ready

Things are getting very real

Love this tip.

I start packing early. Start laying stuff out on the spare bed about a month before sometimes earlier if I’ve bought new stuff to take!

I haven't unpacked from my trip last September! I take some of the same things each time so just leave them in there.

Us too; many items left in a case here in the UK ready for our next trip.

Leaving stuff we only use in Florida plus our toiletries in a suitcase in the master closet of the condo we rent also helps a lot; the owner is more than happy for us to do that!

Otherwise, we pack the night before & finish off the day we leave for the airport.

Although I love the idea of the bags, DD 7 is at that point of 'I will choose my own clothes' so sadly wouldn't work with her yet 😄

I cannot imagine having my clothes organised by day, I decide what to wear each day as it comes. I start to pack the day we set off, I am just packing for myself however.

We are 19 days from leaving on a 3 week vacation with 6 locations including a night at LGW, each hundreds of miles apart.

We have had a test pack in order to ensure that we can get under 10kg each as we are flying ‘hand baggage only’. (4 flights including 2 internals plus a train journey and a long drive).

My wife came in at 8.6kg.. and she was the big worry! She is now looking at how to use up the other 1.3 ..( and looking very carefully at any spare weight in mine and my 2 sons baggage).

Test packs make perfect sense. It gives us reassurance as they days melt away towards 17 July.

Im a ziplock bag packer.
My advice is to unpack night before so creases drop.
Hairbobbles etc should also be in bag 😉
