Mobile WDW reviewing reservations on a case by case basis

Just had a chat with a CM on MDE and asked when we would receive an update on our reservation for October (we're booked at CSR with free dining upgraded to DDP). They didn't know when there would be an announcement about UK free dining for 2020 packages. They did say this, which might mean not everyone is going to be offered the same. I imagine to could partly be down to not all hotels reopening

"At this time, the reservations are being sent emails by the Walt Disney World® manually so it may take some time as it is being looked into on a case by case basis."

When I asked about when there would be an announcement about UK free dining pacakges for 2020 they also said

"once there is more information available, it will be announced on the Walt Disney World® website for all international guests."

They didn't know when that would be.

It's only one CM but doesn't sound as if they've made any decisions on UK free dining yet

I’m not sure how they can make offers on a case by case if they don’t know everyone’s circumstances. Surely the sensible thing would be to ask people to get in touch with what they want? For example, we want to move to next year but Disney don’t know that yet so how do they know what to offer me?

I'm expecting they'll email with a list of options. One if you want to keep your dates, one for an amendment in 2020 and one for moving to 2021. That seems to line up with their T&C's when I booked me how they're dealing with US bookings, you have to call to discuss amendments. If you don't want any of them then it'll be a case of cancelling or claiming on insurance if possible.

It seems that not all hotels will reopen so there may not be generic way they can redistributed guests across other hotels

I'm shocked by how badly WDTC is communicating - or not as the case may be - with UK guests.
We've been loyal onsite guests for years but we might be coming to the end if they don't get their finger out and acknowledge that people need definites - not 'unsures', 'don't yet knows' and 'no decisions yets'.

Even if they emailed out with what the options are so people could start considering what’s right for them. It’s the not knowing that’s frustrating.

I agree. I tend to defend companies just now because these are unprecedented times but communication is key. An explanation to say it would take a while for them to get back to us because... would at least have been something.

I think they are right to wait and work out all the other issues. I am sure they are waiting for more information themselves at the moment.
What would be the point of amending a booking in July if trump doesn't allow UK flights in? Or if they dont lift the quarantine for example?

What happens if the infection rate increases?

They are still working out the NBA stuff and what hotels this will effect. It would be worse if they offered you a great deal for August but then had to go back to you and say sorry need to change it again

The world has not been in this situation before and no one has a crystal ball, not even Disney.

While I agree with a lot of what you say there are exceptions. For example, they could have said if you wish to cancel or rebook for 2021 to get in touch as those are easy to deal with. Instead they said don’t contact us, we’ll contact you.

Meanwhile over at Universal, parks are open and people are enjoying the rides at Volcano Bay. Restaurants to open at full capacity too
