Ios update now ALL my passwords need changing?!

I recently did an ios update on my ipad and iphone, now, when I log into any website, it tells me I need to replace my password following a data leak... I checked my ‘passwords’ on settings, and apparently 471 need changing?

Is this really necessary and has anyone got any advice please?
(Please be warned I am not technically savvy at all, so use easy to understand terms!)

My email keeps asking for the password all the time now since the update... never done it before! 😠

Assuming then that you use the same password for all sites?

That has never been a good idea and is enough reason to change in itself.

It is likely a site has been compromised and therefore you password is in the wild.

I would suggest using a password manager so that you can use complex passwords that are different for each site, but don't need to remember them all.

Exactly the same has happened to mine and I don’t use the same password for everything! Was absolutely fine before the update.

Same for me , I changed a few , turned my iPad off and restarted it, and the message disappeared

There’s a new feature with apple that lets people know if their passwords have been compromised. It’s usually if your password is easy to guess or if it’s been leaked online by a data breach. I’d just change the ones that are repeated (if you have any). You could change the “leaked”’ones over and over again and it could still come up again as it’s a common thing.

If I were to use the feature of ‘strong password’ as suggested, and then my device saves it, thats an option, but if I needed to access that website from another device then what? How on earth would I know the password?

Me too, and my dad (who is 88 and new to email, and it is really putting him off).
