Hire car model review videos

WORK IN PROGRESS

Having not hired a car on our last trip I had no idea what cars to expect in each class and what space would be like. Using the Fleet list here I have been researching the available vehicles for Alamo so I can have a better idea what to avoid.

In this research I came across a couple of Youtube channels that have very in depth reviews of cars on the Alamo list. Below is a copy of the list with links to the appropriate videos where available, I will update this list as new videos pop up on the channels. I have added channel names in brackets. Years, trims and engines may vary but all of these should be close enough to help.

UK model names added inside [ ] where car is re-badged or built on same platform.

Excellent list - Just had the 2015 Chevy 300 from Alamo on my visit. Loved the car. Boot space was a little tight though with 4 cases (2 full size, 1 medium + 1 hold haul). But we got it in. It was the car I was after, but they didn't have any in the line up until I chased it up. Then a brand new, 345 miles on clock, white Chevy 300 was brought round for us.

Just watched the video and didn't realize you could switch the HUD to display the speed in digital. Damn!

The list was starting using only saabkyle videos, I used 2011 videos as they would be close enough to show space in car and boot. I will however be updating the list to make sure all videos are correct years.

I'm torn between the 300 and an SUV. I like the more in depth videos as they let you know about any little features you'd probably miss during a normal rental

Was just going to stick with the basic car as there is only going to be myself, my wife and our DS who will be 4, but the economy cars are TINY!

Really not sure if we will get our cases in them at all!

I love the fact the say the Mirage is the most fuel efficient car available in the US that inst a hybrid. He managed to get a whole 30 MPG on a long highway run!

I know a UK gallon is larger than a US one, but that is still terrible for a car that size!

I know they must be terrifying to drive in the US with the average car size being our average house size lol

30 USMPG is around 36 UKMPG. Not the best really is it haha

Glad this is proving helpful. I will be adding updates to the missing cars on the list when I have some downtime on an evening
