Go pro style camera

Hi all,

Question for the creative ones or anyone who has experience in the WDW and universal travel. We are looking to buy a Go Pro (or a cheaper version, not sure what is out there open to suggestions) to bring to record rides (that we can) hotel, resort etc to keep for ourselves as a memory.

Does anyone have any suggestions on cameras? Or any advice on how to go ablit researching what to buy. Is it accessible to bring cameras on rides.

Thanks in advance.

No experience of using in the parks yet as we are going in October but I bought this one last summer and has been great for a Tunisia holiday and in the sea down here in Devon. I just couldn't justify the cost of a GoPro and I know it is a risk buying a cheaper imitation but I can't complain about it.amazon/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Wdw and Universal donít allow selfie sticks so bare that in mind when making a purchase. We bought an SJ Cam years ago and its quality was comparable to the equivalent go pro at the time for a fraction of the price. However, donít be tempted by one of the many on sale for about 20 quid claiming to be HD as they really are rubbish. Universal can be very strict with their rides about what you can take on as many have metal detectors and will refuse you to ride if you set them off.

Iíve found GoPro are the best.
I just got the new 11 as an upgrade. Worth the money. Of course, quite expensive.
Be aware though it depends what you want it for and what to do with it.
For example, no action camera is great in low light conditions because they have a small sensor. So your action camera will not get brilliant footage, for example, in bars and restaurants on a night or generally low level inside shots- it will be grainy. For that Iíd recommend an APS-C sensor sized camera.
The GoPro are useful for the parks in the day. Disney have clamped down on use on a couple of rides without some attachment.
On many rides in Universal you have to put anything in a locker. The GoPro is actually handy in this scenario as it is tiny and can be kept in the pocket, put in lockers easily etc.
The GoPro also have excellent image stabilisation. They are very good from a 7 up, but the newest ones are quite astonishing. The latest one you can turn through 360 degrees and magically the picture still keeps absolutely level. Therefore you can just hold them in your hand whilst walking around and the horizon is locked and itís as good as being on a gimbal.
