Why are Scotland waiting until 2022 ? 🙄

DD, who is at Uni in Newcastle mentioned the census on the phone this week and I told her not to worry as normally there is a section about being educated away from home. I’ve had to do this in the past while DD and DS were at boarding school while we worked overseas.
The Scotland / England difference in dates must skew all the data within the UK.

So if you move to Scotland in the next year you technically appear twice in the same census.

The First Minister decided it was too risky this year so it will wait.

Yes.
DS will be in Manchester Uni /England March 21 and has an internship in Edinburgh/Scotland 2022 for a year so will be counted twice.
DD will be counted in Newcastle / England this year 2021 but I know she will be back in Scotland 20 March 2022 onwards because of a family event so again counted twice.

I always thought it was a UK wide census on one specific date.

Sorry, just saw this! I had to hand out the forms, explain what was required and they would be sent back directly. We would go and reconcile them against our lists and go back and chase them up. I dont think we had a completed form, just guideline we could refer too. Had a manager on hand for queries too. It was 2011 so my memory is a bit sketchy 🙈

It's not the same census though, Scotland has always had a seperate census and BMD registration system and much easier to trace family history given how much of our BMD records have been digitised.

When I did our census last week, I asked DS about his religion and he said Jedi, so that’s what I put! Strangely enough it wasn’t recognised on their system
