Renaming new cats

We adopted two cats on Friday who urgently needed new homes. Our tabby is Alex, who is 9 and Truffles, Siamese cross, is between 1 and 2. However they are girls, not boys and people refer to them as he, including me! So I want to rename them. Alex, I thought could be Alexa or Alexis as she will know her name and those are not too different from Alex.
For Truffles, I was thinking KoKo. But wondering what dibbers might think.

We had quite an issue renaming our rescue dog. He’s a Staffie and was called Razor! We thought that was a bit too much of a ‘hard’ name and considered renaming him Ray. However, that didn’t work as he had no recall to it. Eventually we settled on Fraser as it sounded a bit the same!
I suppose it depends on whether the cats respond to their old names or not.

What about Calix for Alex as she is a calico? And it sounds similar.

My 2 are 14 and definitely know their names. Buzz responses to the word "tablet" more than his name as he knows he gets a spoonful of tuna with his tablet twice a day!

Do the cats respond to their names?
With all the changes to their routine with rehoming ( lovely thing to do) it might be more calming for them to continue with their original names.
If you really feel you need to change them try to stick with something that sounds very similar.

Agree with Alice as the cat is 9 & thats a near match for her own name.

As for Truffles how about Twinkle/s?

They are lovely girls.
My mum adopted a very elderly cat when her owner passed away . Her name was Fearless and she certainly didn’t suit it . She ended up being called Phyllis which was much more suitable for such an elderly lady and she always came when called.

I think Alice is nice and is a more subtle change that the cat might not notice, it sounds more like Alex than Alexa or Alexis do

I would keep Truffles, it is a cute name and gender neutral.
