I need some help, advice and reassurance and appreciate its probably a long shot on here. For reasons that isn't worth going into, I need to be fitted with bone anchored hearing aid. I'm waiting for an appointment for the 2 week trial on a band. Then I have to decide what I want, band (which I don't), or to have the BAHA fitted by stud or magnet. There isn't many photos online of all of these and no real way of knowing what is like to have a BAHA. As I said, it's a long shot, but wondered if there were any dibbers who wore a BAHA or even knew someone. I just need some idea of what it's like before I make any serious decisions.

My friends dad has this - I think.

He got lots of infections in his ears so couldn't wear a "normal" hearing aid.

He had the screw fitted first then about 2 weeks later - once healed - the hearing bit was put on.

I think he was a day patient - i certainly remember seeing him out at a coffee shop within a couple of days and he took great pride in showing me the screw - much to his wife's horror

It appeared quite straightforward and didnt take long to heal and he definitely says it works ok.

There is a lady in the care setting I work in who has a baha it’s a screw type, it’s quite easy to attach the baha to. I take her to ent and audiology for her check ups. I asked them to make moulds to fit on the inside of her ears for when she’s washing her hair. Not sure if you would need these?
She is aged 48 and manages very well with the baha
