Hunmanby Gap - our uk ‘happy place’ - where is yours ?

We are away at the moment on a weekend up near Scarborough and spent a couple of hours at what I would probably consider our ‘ happy place’ when on a uk weekend away.

It’s called Hunmanby Gap.
It’s basically a farmers field turned car park at the end of a lane.
You walk down a path and there is a portacabin style beach cafe now with decking outside overlooking the cliffs and the beach below.
Then further down the path you get the vast expanse of almost empty flat beach backed by cliffs.
Whenever we go it just seems to be sunny.
Today I have got burnt in 15 degree sunshine ☀️

Here’s me, DW and DD having a bacon and egg barm and chips at the cafe .

Simple pleasures !

So 2 questions -

1 - Who knows Hunmanby Gap and what are your views on it ?

2 - What’s your uk ‘ happy place ‘ ?

Yes, we love it there too. The women who work there are fantastic too, always finding somewhere for us to park as I couldn't get a wheelchair up the hill.
Love the breakfast and the cakes.

Yes love Hunmanby Gap. Have many memories of childhood holidays as family friends had a caravan at Brid. So many memories on the Yorkshire coast both as a child and with my own children.

Another family happy place now is West Runton near Cromer in Norfolk.

I haven’t been there for years but I’ve got a couple of weekends booked up the north coast in the summer so I’ll make sure we stop off and have a visit 👍

1. Don’t know it, but looks lovely ! We have booked a lodge near York for the end of July and are going to visit Whitby and Scarborough 😊 If I ask for a bacon roll, will they know what I mean ? 😉😄
2. Happy place is probably walking the dogs on one of our gorgeous beaches at home on a sunny day - nothing better 😍

We love having a day out in Windermere. We only go for the day as its not too far but we always have a lovely day. We love all the Lake District to be honest so we are hoping to stay over night somewhere over the summer.

Grew up a mile from there!
Childhood spent playing on or near the Worth Valley train line, rightly or wrongly, going through the tunnels mid week when no trains were running.
At the weekends, I remember the smell of steam train smoke so clearly...

My UK happy place is Brixham in Devon.
Moved there for a relatively short period of time whilst hubby was based at Paignton, firstly living in a fab waterside apartment overlooking the sea shortly after we married, watching trawlers come in and out to the fish market, before we bought our property there. Wonderful. Often been back since to relive old memories, and plan another trip there soon .
