Mobile Charitable work during shielding

My father recently got diagnosed with cancer. Him and my mum are both having to shield at home.

My mum is an extreme charitable person, it’s breaking her heart that she can’t volunteer at any of the vaccine sites or help people with their shopping etc. She has been doing volunteering for a long time and so to lose that is frustrating her.

She is very much into crafts and so does a lot of things for the care home opposite her house. I have also told her to make little crotchet items and leave them around the local parks for the children to enjoy on their walks

Are you able to suggest any other volunteering work or acts of kindness she can do-not only to help others but to also pass her time

What about contacting the local hospital and asking if anything needs knitted for the neonatal unit? Ours has previously needed little hats etc. Someone from the family could collect them from her door and deliver them for her.

Is she a people person? They are asking for people to phone people shielding and chat to them.

I was also going to suggest signing up as a phone volunteer and talking to people who may be lonely.

Someone around us paints rocks, and leaves them out for the children to find on the way to school.

Have a look on Pinterest for some craft ideas, maybe something she fancies

Facebook page... dollar tree craftaholics and some others all using stuff from Dollar tree, occasionally someone posts crocheted animal patterns, could she make something like that for the oldies in the home ? Local nursery ?

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

She does already make items for the premature baby unit.

She is very much a people person and I think she would be perfect as a phone volunteer, I did suggest this to her yesterday.

Thanks for all the other suggestions
