Why is car hire so expensive now?

Prices for a 7/8 seater are literally more than double they were last year and the year before.

We paid £590 for an Alamo 8 seat SUV last year for two weeks. Now it’s £1200!

What am I doing wrong?!?

It's the effect of covid, prices will almost certainly fall again once things are more stable. Unless your absolutely desperate to book then I'd just hang on

The prices fluctuate crazily. I always look from around 10 months out. Last trip I did this and had a top price of $839 a bottom price of $349 and the price I paid was $360.

We are looking at booking a car of Sep and it seems really dear. We ideally want mid size car for the whole two weeks plus another car for a few days so we can all split up and do our own thing for a couple of days.
For the past 11 years we have only ever used Car on the Drive who have unfortunately gone under.

Intermediate car for 2 weeks from 23rd September is £329 through myself with Budget. (this price is through my offline price list so won't show on the website).

Inkiboo, if you want to drop me an email with your dates, i'll take a look for you but not so sure my offline prices are any better than the online prices for this size vehicle.
