Returning to a different airport

I'm sure this has probably been asked before, but I have done a search and can't find anything, so I'll ask again!

We're getting closer to being able to book our flights for next October. I have been tracking prices the last couple of years, and BA always seem to come out on top so I think we might be sticking with them.

Is it possible to fly out from Edinburgh but return to Aberdeen if we select a multi-centre or custom trip? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but when doing dummy bookings, it always comes up with a warning that destination airports don't match and, obviously because I'm not going any further with the booking, I don't know if that means we can't book those flights.

Until recently it's always been a lot cheaper flying out from Edinburgh than Aberdeen. We'll be getting the train to and from the airport regardless of which one we fly from, so parking isn't an issue. We definitely want to fly back in to Aberdeen though.

There is no problem doing this at all. The warning is just to make sure people can't say they didn't realise. When I booked flights for October I ended up with into Gatwick and back from Heathrow indirect based on price.

unfortunately there is an issue with booking multi- airport/ custom trips/flights on the BA website for certain regional airports. We were searching for a fly drive that dep from LHR & returned to Bristol. Although we were able to search using the Orlando - Dublin - Birmingham route which was the same as the Orlando-Dublin-Bristol flight we were hoping to get, both we & the customer service agent at BA were unable to do it this for Bristol this way. The only way they could book it was by putting the lhr- orl & orl-bristol flight through then adding car & calculating manually the discount for a fly drive. however this way proved far more costly than what were expecting given the Birmingham equivalent prices. def worth ringing them directly to check if a similar issue.

P.S. if u aren't doing a fly-drive u should be able to press the flight only button on the initial BA page(ie. not the flight +hotel or flight + car button)which says flights then select the multi city option & check your prices that way.

I did the Heathrow/Gatwick routine last year - right pain it was to drive between them... Rush hour is more grid lock hour!

Yes, we did it last year. We flew Gatwick to Tampa, the Miami to Heathrow using the multi-city option on BA, and added a car for a fly drive. As we get a transfer to the airport, it didn’t matter that we weren’t using the same one for the return.

Brilliant, thanks! Now the hard bit - when to hit the "Book Flights" button!
